AdvenChair, by design, is a human, team-powered, all-terrain wheelchair.

This allows AdvenChair to travel on virtually any trail system – including within wilderness areas – with a great degree of safety offered from the team.

AdvenChair is designed so that a team of friends and family can push, pull, lift, and brake as they navigate the rider along the trail.

16 ergonomic points of contact are designed into the frame to support push, pull, lift and brake functions. All of these contact points are necessary in order to navigate through the unforeseen terrain that lies ahead.

AdvenChair’s adjustable platform design offers adaptability to various rider sizes from a 3’6” child up to a 6’6” adult.

One frame size will last for a lifetime of adventure. All of these adjustments can be made with the rider on board.

AdvenChair’S NEW FIBErGLASS Seating System features four widths – small (12”), medium (14”), large (16”), and Extra large (18”) wide.

The four available seat sizes allow a family to adapt an AdvenChair as a child grows to adulthood without the need to buy various frame sizes, by just changing the seat.

Human powered by just one, or a team of friends and family

By design, AdvenChair is a 100% human, team-powered all-terrain wheelchair, allowing it to travel on virtually any trail system, including within wilderness areas, with a great degree of safety.

Although some riders prefer the independence of powering their own chair or being able to travel with battery power without support, AdvenChair is designed to be powered by a team of one to six because:

  • Many riders don’t have the muscle strength or coordination to power their own chair.

  • Many trails are too steep, rough or full of obstacles for a single person to safely travel in a chair, battery powered or not.

  • Many trails do not allow electric-assisted chairs, including all wilderness trails.

  • A team that can easily propel the chair supplies a much greater measure of safety that can never be provided by a single person in a chair.

Push, Pull, Lift, and Brake

AdvenChair is designed so that a team of friends and family can navigate the rider along the trail and overcome significant obstacles along the way. It is designed with 16 ergonomic contact points where team members can support by pushing, pulling, lifting, and braking.

All of these contact points are necessary in order to navigate through the unforeseen terrain that can be found on challenging wilderness trails.

  • The main contact point is at the handlebars where a driver and team leader will push, steer and brake. The driver uses the brakes to bump steer the chair right or left, and for slowing on steep descents. AdvenChair offers locking brake levers that act as a parking brake when stopped.

  • Five forward pulling points allow for one to five “mules” (a term of endearment for our friends and family members) to pull when ascending, depending on the severity of the hill.

  • Two pulling points in the rear allow for one or two mules to serve as safety anchors in case the driver stumbles and looses contact with the handlebars (brakes).

  • Two pulling points, one on either side of the wheel cages allow for a side mule to help stabilize the chair when off-camber terrain is encountered.Item description

  • Six lifting points (three per side) offer grab points for team members to help lift the chair over obstacles (boulders, rock gardens, logs) that are encountered along the journey.Item description

  • Pulling is enhanced by two 15’ long nylon straps outfitted with carabiners. The lead mule can be outfitted with an optional towing pole package that connects to a waist belt, which offers very comfortable pulling.

Scalability & Adjustability

AdvenChair’s adjustable platform design offers adaptability to various rider sizes from a child to an adult (3’6” up to 6’6”). One frame size will last for a lifetime of adventure. All of these adjustments can be made with the rider on board.

  • New fiberglass seating system: Small (12”), Medium (14”), Large (16"), and Extra Large (18") wide.

  • 2” of travel in ½” increments

  • Multiple footrest leg projection angles (20°, 38°, & 45°)

  • Telescopic footrest leg length adjustment (4 positions in ¾” increments)

  • 3 angular positions

  • 0° to 16° of seat inclination in 4° increments

  • Telescopic driver handlebar height adjustment in 1” increments

Adjustable Seating System

AdvenChair’s unique seating system features a rugged fiberglass bucket seat that is available in 4 seat widths, small (12”), medium (14”), large (16”), and extra large (18”). The various available seat sizes allow a family to adapt an AdvenChair as a child grows to adulthood by simply changing the seat. There is no need to buy a whole new AdvenChair with a different frame size.

  • A tried and true design that has performed flawlessly in the adaptive sit-ski market, offers great support for the rider at the armrests/handgrips, as well as a great fit with the wide variety of seat sizes coupled with the new seat insert design.

  • The seating system offers 6” of fore and aft adjustment, 0° to 16° of seat base incline adjustments (in 4° increments), up and down armrest adjustment of 2” (in ½” increments), and axial and radial handgrip adjustment to help the rider brace themselves in the seat.

  • The seating system is supplied with a waist belt and a chest strap to secure the rider. The seating system also has adjustable armrests (up and down) along with adjustable handgrips (forward, backward, and rotation) so the rider can brace themselves in the seat.

  • The seat is supplied with a padded seat insert and an additional seat pad is available as an option.

  • The seat has mounts for a day pack behind the seat and has provisions to mount an optional headrest.
